Timbaland To Sample Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe looks set to hit the charts again 53 years after her death – with a little help from Timbaland. The record producer has been given permission to use a never-before-heard sample of a track called Down Boy from the hit 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Marilyn fan Jack Allen owns the rights to the track but told The Sun: ‘This is a beautiful song. Timbaland is working with it in the studio, so I can’t wait to see what happens.’
Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend went on to become a hit single from the film but Down Boy was edited out and has never been heard until now. Jack was just four when Marilyn passed away after an overdose in 1962 but he became fascinated by the star after he worked in Hollywood as a TV executive. He bought the song at an auction in 2005 and admitted that he woud love to hear Madonna, Mariah Carey, or Gwen Stefani work on an updated version of the song.
