J. Cole is renowned for producing his own music, evident in tracks like “Sideline Story,” “Nobody’s Perfect,” and “Forbidden Fruit,” but he also draws inspiration from other accomplished producers such as Timbaland. In a recent interview, J. Cole revealed that he watches Timbaland’s YouTube videos because the legendary producer often goes live on Twitch, and he stumbled upon a video titled “Timbaland Makes a Beat.”

He was blown away by the music and considered asking Timbaland for the beat, but he was hesitant because he didn’t want to annoy him. Instead, he looped the YouTube rip and created an entire song around it, spending the next two days writing and recording the track. When he was almost finished with the song, he decided to contact Timbaland to get the original file, but the producer regretfully informed him that he didn't save that particular beat. As a result, J. Cole had to recreate the beat.
