Ludacris recentlyshared a wild story about how he got to record his breakthrough track “Phat Rabbit” with Timbaland. Back when he was working at Atlanta’s Hot 97.5, Timbaland heard his demo and invited him to Virginia to record, but the session was on a random Thursday and Luda couldn’t just take time off.So he told the radio station his grandmother had died and that he had to go to New York for the funeral. Instead, he went to Virginia and recorded with Timbaland

“I was able to give Timbaland my demo, and from there is how I got on his album,” Luda explained. “I want you to come to Virginia, this is where I’m recording an album,” “I used my grandmother to go and record ‘Phat Rabbit’ in Virginia,” he said. “My grandmother just died, and I have to go to the funeral in New York.” “What feels different is that when I stepped away, it was to get that perspective,” he said. “Sometimes you have to step back in order to become that fan again because the music industry, as we all know, or have heard, you can get twisted in too much of the politics.”
