Image Hosted by UploadHouse.com
Grammy Award-winning producer and key Timbaland collaborator Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon recently sat down with Hip Hop personality and SOHH correspondent Shawn Setaro on his popular “The Cipher” podcast. Listen to the full interview and check out five gems he dropped during the Q&A. Photo by Brad Gregory.

On Producing:
“Producing has always been in me. I love playing live, but if I’m playing live, it’s almost like I’m producing on the spot.”

On Timbaland’s Sound:
“I’ve been working with him since 2006 and I still can’t describe it. And it looks so simple. He doesn’t really do a lot, but it’s his time and his rhythm.”

On Working With Ashlee Simpson:
“She was a rock star. And once I heard her voice, it was simple. It was like, you can’t do the candy pop stuff. Your sister’s doing that. You gotta be the evil twin.”

On The Difference Between Hip Hop & Other Genres:
“You don’t have to be perfect in hip-hop. We want raw. We want realness. You want the drums to be a little offensive sometimes. You want that edge.”

On Jay Z:
“Jay loves to have people in the studio. He listens to conversations. He’ll be in the back, chilling, and he listens. He knows how to take conversations and build a story out of it. He really pays attention to the environment around him.”

Produced by Timbaland, the infectious “Alessandro Michele” tune fits into the fashion-Rap trend that’s burst onto the scene in Brat’s album absence, it has the sound that taps into what she and her mentor are known for—feel-good songs with some dominating deliveries.

Back on 2000’s platinum Unrestricted, Dupri and Timbaland produced the intro together. In one of the biggest songs from Da Brat in some time, Jermaine provides vocals and Timbo’ laces a thumping beat, make sure to get it on iTunes and check out the tune below.

By Adelle Platon. VH1 Hip Hop Honors is rolling out the red carpet for female trailblazers and pioneers in hip-hop for a star-studded ceremony in New York later this month. The tribute for honoree Missy Elliott will be no exception as her closest collaborators Pharrell, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Trina, Tweet, Keyshia Cole, Raven Symone, Fantasia and Hip Hop Honors host Eve will pay homage to Misdemeanor, according to the network.

Following its six-year hiatus, VH1 Hip Hop Honors will honor Elliott alongside Queen Latifah, Lil' Kim and Salt-N-Pepa at New York's David Geffen Hall at the Lincoln Center on Monday, July 11 at 9 p.m. ET. Timbaland x Las Vegas Sun Interview (2016)

Image Hosted by UploadHouse.com
By Chris Kudialis. With cell phones, drinks and hands raised, a sold-out crowd of nearly 2,000 swimsuit-clad fans filled Flamingo’s GO Pool Saturday for a party hosted by Timbaland. Wearing a black T-shirt with matching black pants and mesh shoes, the producer delighted fans with 10 of his better-known hits, including “The Way I Are,” Nelly Furtado’s Promiscuous” and Justin Timberlake’s SexyBack,” while over a dozen concertgoers hopped onto the poolside stage to dance, twerk and sing along with him.

Timbaland’s 35-minute set list continued just past 4 p.m. Saturday, and the Norfolk, Va., native managed to comment just once about temperatures that reached 103 degrees. Before the show, the 44-year-old, recently divorced super producer sat down with the Sun to talk his latest music ventures, his new outlook on life and why he’s voting for Hillary Clinton in November’s presidential election.

You’ve been involved in some new ventures this year, most notably doing the theme song for this year’s NBA playoffs. How’d that come to be?
God. You know, he’s been blessing me with giving me different opportunities. Things just really came together and we made it happen.
