So Long SupaFriends...

Sorry guys, this day has been coming for a while now and I can't delay it any longer, I know I have not been posting on this site, and the fact is, I'm leaving it.
Do not worry, the site will stay open since all my other admins are still running the show.
For most of us I know this comes as a major blow since I was the primary blogger on here, trying my best to either get you the news first or to archive what's been coming out. I feel I have created a decent website for fans everywhere to come and visit so they may be provided with ever more Timbaland music.

In my personal life now I'm at a bridge where everything changes on the other side, my work is ever increasing, I've taken on more responsibilities and training to move up in my career. I now have a number 1 as well who means the world to me, she is my "passion" now. I've also taking on an apprenticeship which has me studying a lot too, sometimes late into the night, so overall my free time is extremely minimal, even for simple web surfing.

It's been a fun adventure on this site, I've made friends in places I have never been, spoken to people who represent Timbaland and his camp, and for a brief time able to help them out, I feel like a blessed fan. True this may be an insane time for my departure seeing as "Textbook Timbo" the 2-disc album/novel will soon be released along with a heavy media campaign, I would be a disease to all the excitement in the atmosphere, I do know lots of you have mixed opinions about me as Timstan. To be fair I can't change how you view this, I've had to come to a hard conclusion and thus decided it's best for me to leave.

Afterall I can't call myself "TimboPassion" if I'm not passionate anymore...
So here I hand in my resignation, so long everyone and be sure to enjoy Timbaland's music forever more! Here's my favourite I mixed a while ago as my leaving gift:

Timbaland Feat. Keri Hilson, Sebastian, D.O.E. - The Way I Are (Extended) from Timbaland Passion on Vimeo.

Hannon Lane Ft. Test Drive & Sebastian - "Drive Me Crazy"

Thanks to Mika (perhaps we should talk more about joining the admin team *hint/wink*) we now have a new track to add to our own discogs by Hannon Lane!! Also making a guest rap on the jam is good ol' Sebastian, I shall try to get info on who the chic is singing the song, she's sounding hot, nice one Mr Lane, peep below:

DJ Timmy Tim - "Runnin' Away" Beat

Just thought I'd show y'all something that the wonderful Larry Live has provided once again: an old beat done by DJ Timmy Tim a.k.a. Timbaland!
Larry would like to send a Shout/Out to Kelly Skinner, the inspiration to the SBI (Surrounded by Idiots) group, as well as DDP!
Remember if you want to get in with Tim, talk with Mr 'GotUrBack'. He is afterall the A&R (Agent & Representative) for Timothy Mosley.

THROWBACK PLUS POLL: Aaliyah - "Are You That Somebody?"

Ok time crack on with business, gonna do another double feature post:
Starting with the throwback for the month I thought I'd go with "Are You That Somebody?" by our beloved Aaliyah which can be found on the Dr. Dolittle Soundtrack.
Have a listen:

Moving on to the poll part of this entry, Imma stick with the Aaliyah theme but bring it up to current events.
Namely, what would you have Tim do with Aaliyah in today's music scene?

surveys & polls

Cee-Lo Green Ft. Timbaland - "I'll Be Around" THROWBACK

'Cee-Lo, you ready to rock with Timbo?'

Start of the month throwback, let's dig in: Seems like mainstream media kinda forgot back when Mr Callaway released his hit "F**k You" to say that he had done other work by himself other than with Gnarls Barkley, including his first highest charting song "I'll Be Around" featuring Timbaland. Believe it or not the only real people who know of this song is us Timstans or all the Cee-Lo fans... Otherwise nobody knows about the track! "OMG!" Well checkout his album "Cee-Lo Green... Is the Soul Machine" and you'll find it happily on the tracklist.
Well I'm gonna fix that now by re-sharing the jam here for your listening pleasures:

I know guys love your instrumentals, so here's the instrumental version too:

Timbaland Feat. Justin Timberlake & Jay-Z - Give It To Me (Laugh At Em Remix)

FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH! You know what that means, it's throwback time.
I was sitting here thinking, "Hmm, what should I remind people of?" Then it became clear: Lots of JT & JZ hype lately, so don't ignore it, go with the flow am I right? Plus I wanted to show people that "Suit & Tie" is not the first time that Timbaland/Timberlake/Hova have been all on the same song, they did it with this one too on Shock Value, officially as a remix to "Give It To Me" though...
Cut the crap, go to the music:

Now just as a little Shout/Out to Boodi, here's the instrumental version!

Nelly Furtado Ft. Timbaland - "Promiscuous" THROWBACK

Once again I find myself delayed on the monthly throwbacks so I'll hit you all with this newly leaked video clip showing Nelly and Timmy performing "Promiscuous" at the Rolling Stone Party Live. This also happens to be the same venue where bits of the "Give It To Me" music video were also utilized (though not from this performance). It's also great to see Justin jump on stage with them, check it:

All Saints - Lady Marmalade (Timbaland Remix) THROWBACK

And to think I almost forgot this! (Again).
But you know the deal, start of the month, so there's a throwback for all y'all...
This time I felt like going back to the late 90's to show off the remix Tim did of the All Saints cover version of the Labelle song "Lady Marmalade" to be included on the Dr Dolittle soundtrack, let's wind back the clock:

Sebastian Ft. Petey Pablo & Bubba Sparxxx - "Hell To Da Naw" THROWACK

Aw Hell To Da Naw... Once again I missed the first of the month, so here is the throwback I'm doing this month, since September 1st is Sebastian's birthday, I decdided I'll go with him, So here's to you sappy!!

(And a word on "Triple Threat & 9th Inning" they're being released TOMORROW, Sept. 3rd)

Timbaland Presents Shock Value II - Review

Ok so these album reviews have been floating in my mind for a while now, and at last I'm gonna get around to them... I'll start with SV2 so I can hopefully shed some positive light on the much criticized project and rate each song out of a 5-star rating, let's begin:

01. Intro with DJ Felli Fel
Not much to say about this song other than it's just a mere intro song to the album, it receives ✰✰✰

02. Carry Out with Justin Timberlake
Nearly everyone's favorite off of the album, not to mention one of the most successful singles, easily receives ✰✰✰✰✰

03. Lose Control with JoJo
Another favorite from the album, not to mention did very well on live performances (cough Manila cough), and the third verse is by Hayes (uncredited) therefore receives ✰✰✰✰

04. Meet In Tha Middle with Bran'Nu
This joint (according to Brandy fans) was set to be a single off of the album, and I can't blame them, the song is great, I just couldn't see it as single material though, receives ✰✰✰

05. Say Something with Drake
Oh this much celebrated song, weird thing though is that it feels more like a Drizzy song than a Timbo song, but who am I to complain? As for ratings, I think its fair for it to receive ✰✰✰

06. Tomorrow In The Bottle with Chad Kroeger & Sebastian
This is my favorite song from the album (partly because I'm a big Nickelback fan), this track also uses the first verse from Sebastian's song "Bottom Of The Bottle", Tim wanted this to be a single too, so it receives ✰✰✰✰

07. We Belong To The Music with Miley Cyrus
One of two songs sent to iTunes as a promo single prior to the official album release, and however lots of Miley fans forget that it is actually a Timbaland song, however I feel it can receive ✰✰

08. Morning After Dark with Nelly Furtado & SoShy
The first single from the album came to much welcome by the media because it fitted in with the Vampire theme set by Twilight (puke) & originally never featured Nelly, but as a last minute addition they included her, song is brilliant, it receives ✰✰✰✰✰

09. If We Ever Meet Again with Katy Perry
The song I'll say was the first Timbaland song I ever heard when I first moved to UK, not to mentioned it fared pretty well here, song also contains the uncredited extra Sebastian verse at the end entitled "Face Of The Year", track receives ✰✰✰✰

10. Can You Feel It with Esthero & Sebastian
Another amazing song to hear live, however it feels nothing more than just an album-filler joint, but it's still great to get Esthero on the album as her vocals true to Canadian singing talent are amazing, so it receives ✰✰✰✰

11. Ease Off The Liquor
With the additional vocals of SoShy (not Melody Thornton!) this is a favorite among DJ's everywhere, not to mention sounds hot when played in the clubs, the instrumental alone is awesome, so it receives ✰✰✰✰

12. Undertow with The Fray & Esthero
This song unexpectedly charted and I believe with a little more effort put into this song we could've had the "Apologize" of Shock Value 2, but alas there were no plans for it to become a single and remained such, thus receives ✰✰✰✰

13. Timothy Where You Been with Jet
Accompanied by the additional vocals of JoJo we get this song that Tim did without actually even meeting Jet in studio ever, as they simply sent him their 2003 song "Timothy" and then Tim mixed it for his project, it receives ✰✰✰✰✰

14. Long Way Down with Daughtry
Chris Daughtry himself said he liked this collaboration so much that at that time he wanted to make his next album sound like it, however it just seemed to be him joking around, another album-filler, so receives ✰✰✰✰

15. Marchin On (Timbo Version) with OneRepublic
This song was used as the theme for German football team during the 2010 World Cup, except only as the "Patriot Remix" and the original is only found on the OneRepublic album "Waking Up", this song receives ✰✰✰

16. The One I Love with Keri Hilson & D.O.E.
This song was originally titled "Maniac" with a verse by Chris Brown, however this got axed due to domestic violence case with Rihanna at the time, this was agreed mutually by Chris & Tim as they felt it may not do well for Brown's career at the time, so receives ✰✰

17. Symphony with Attitude, Bran'Nu & D.O.E.
This song was sampled from Marley Marl's song "The Symphony" and later the Tim instrumental version was freestyled to by Petey Pablo in "Did It, Done It" and this serves as the final song on the entire album, it receives ✰✰✰

18. Talk That with T-Pain & Billy Blue
Never appeared on the album however it was scheduled to be on it originally with the Missy Elliott verses, and then the Akon verse later as a remix, but instead we got Billy here doing his thing, if it did have a place on the album I feel it would've been #18, receives ✰✰✰✰

19. Crazy Girl with Justin Timberlake
Never appeared on the album too despite being originally slated to be on it, they could've still had it as a bonus track or something... This song interpolates Tank's "I Like Them Girls (Timbaland Remix)" receives ✰✰✰✰✰

20. I'm In Love With You with Tyson Ritter (All-American Rejects)
Like "Talk That" it never appeared on the album however during production it was reported that Tim was recording with The All-American Rejects, thus I'm assuming this was their result, it was meant to appear on the unreleased "SV2: The Essentials" EP, receives ✰✰✰✰

Shade Sheist Ft. Timbaland - "Money Owners" Throwback

WHERE HAVE I BEEN? Sorry guys I missed the first of the month, but I'll make up for the start of month throwback by throwing you a Timmy classic, namely "Money Owners" by Shade Sheist. The way Tim was on these beats, pure golden.... (Great to see Dr Dre cameo in the video).

Ms. Jade Ft. Nelly Furtado & Timbaland - "Ching Ching" THROWBACK

I know we're all craving some good old Timbaland, so I figured that from now on at the start of each month I'll post an old single as throwback for y'all, sounds good?
Okay let's go with the Girl who is Interrupted, Ms. Jade with featured vocals of Nelly Furtado, and the sole production of Timbaland, "Ching Ching".

Throwback Sunday #8: Virginia Williams Feat. Missy Elliott - Let Me In Your Life

I know not many of you guys heard this song, and the bassment tape itself was very underrated. That's why I thought it would be cool to post some older, pre-'96 music for you to enjoy. And I'm also in love with Virginia's voice. I have no idea how she didn't make it to legend status, her singing is soooo good! She sounded like a R&B diva from the very start, who knows what masterpieces would've been released, if someone gave her a chance. Listen:

Some parts sound similiar, right? The drums (and also the beginning, with Missy's speech) were later recycled for Ginuwine's "When Doves Cry" and the synths were reused for Aaliyah's "Heartbroken". I know both G's and Liyah's songs are awesome, but I'd really love to have the Virginia one released one day (CD quality)...

And what's your opinion? Would you like to get Virginia's song released, instead of recycling it in two others? Tell us in the comment section.

Throwback Sunday (or Monday) #7: Timbaland & Magoo - Deep In Your Memory

I know I wasn't posting throwbacks for some time but there was so many leaks and premieres lately (plenty of new tracks in general) that I simply thought nobody will be interested. Sorry if someone missed the series, I'll try to make it up. And yeah, I know I promised to post more Missy stuff but the album got delayed once again so I think I'll wait some more time. Instead of that, here's an awesome Tim & Magoo track, where Mags kicks some smart rhymes over a funky Timbo beat (hell yeah):

I love it, especially the stereo effect used here. But the best thing about this song are the lyrics. "F**ked Jyll on the hill". LOL

Oh, and I'll try to bring more life to this series. I'll try, really.

Throwback Sunday #6: Missy Elliott Feat. Aaliyah - Best Friends

Well, I have no idea if there will be any R&B tracks on Block Party or if Missy's gonna back Tim with her singing on SV3 but since we're going non-stop Missy, here's one of my fav Timbo-produced R&B tracks out there:

Things I LOVE in this record:

- the beat (juicy, funky, romantic - perfect!)

- Aaliyah being on it (this song kinda fits into One In A Million album, it's also fresh and sensitive thanks to her)

- Tim's vocoder singig (hell yeah! I always enjoy listening to vocoder, no matter who's singing, but this really rocks)

Anyway, it's just dope. How else can you describe a classic? I like the whole Supa Dupa Fly LP, but this joint and Friendly Skies are my best ones.

And here's a little quest for ya'll - Missy recorded another song with Aaliyah for one of her other albums, which is some kind of an unofficial "sequel" to today's throwback. Can you name the song and the album it comes from?

Throwback Sunday #5: Missy Elliott - Scream aka Itchin'

Ok, I'm pretty sure no one will give a damn bout my throwbacks because of all the new joints coming, but this is my duty so here we go. Since we're all waiting for Tim's reunion with Missy for Block Party and SV3, I'm gonna post some classic Missy/Timbo shit to warm ya'll up before the real boom. I'll be doing this every week until we finally get the new stuff released, here's the first one:

This one is propably my fav Missy joint right now. Dope beat - pure heat. And Tim on the chorus, definitely some next level, even today. This is what I call CLASSIC MISSY.

Song taken from The Transporter OST. Have fun while listening!

Throwback Sunday #4: Wyclef Jean Feat. S. Low, Hollywood, Trini & Shells - War Stories aka David Banner

Hello ya'll! I'm kinda busy know so I can't make it too long, but here it is. This song was released as a vinyl single under the label John Shop Records in 2003. It's quite rare so maybe you will enjoy it. It's also propably Tim's first collabo with Wyclef, althrough it doesn't even sound like a Timbo beat. Here it is on Discogs. The version I'm posting here comes from DJ Spinbad's promo mixtape "The Problem Solver" but it's almost the same, except a couple seconds missing. Tell me your thoughts in the comment section.

Throwback Sunday #3: Timbaland & Magoo Feat. Larry Live - Can Ya Get With It

Hello ya'll! It's your boy Peter G. coming back after a long pause! I'm sorry for my long absence but my computer crashed and I've had no idea what to do with it. However, I managed to fix it myself - I've simply put my ram memory into another slot and it's working again. :|

I'm so dumb, I am really really dumb, for real (*Antoine Dodson face*). But don't worry folks, I'm back with a sack full of ideas, samples and theories, and I'll begin NOW!

Today's song is very very special. It's a rare gem by Timbaland and Magoo with companionship of their long time friend and collaborator Larry Live. For long time we had no idea who was the guy backing up Magoo on this song, since Larry never took part in other releases (at least I don't know any examples), but that changed after his leaking spree, when he gave us some cool demos by Tim's higschool group Surrounded By Idiots (with Pharrell, Mags, Larry and more) and even one from the Bassment Days (thanks Larry!). Now we officialy know who's the MC on this golden track. Here it is:

I just can't resist the magic of this track. I love the "oldschool" vibe Tim added to it, it reminds me of hip-hop's golden era and the "It Takes Two" record value. I definitely enjoy Mag's flows, especially his half-clever, half-silly, but always amazing lyrics (he sounds like a real rap godfather on this one, lol) and Larry's tennis metaphor (oh man, that one was grrrrrrrreat!). Some people assume that this joint is a remix of Usher's debut single "Can U Get Wit It" (also produced by Timbaland), but in my opinion it's just a rumour. For those who don't remember that joint, HERE IT IS.

Most Tim fans will propably think that "Can Ya Get With It" is a leaked track from a demo tape or someone's personal vault, but that's not true: it was released on the Priority Records promo CD containing some unique, hard to find tracks by various artists. But since the promo was FREE, I think it won't be a problem to post the track on hulkshare so everone can download it.

For those who like some additional goodies, here you have some pics of the promo CD itself:

As you can see on the third pic, our today's throwback joint is the 17th track on the CD, labeled as "DeVante's Private Collection Feat. Timbaland & Magoo"... Well, that's a confusing name. And Larry wasn't even mentioned...

All the Bassment lovers should be pleased with track #10, Ginuwine's "I Want You". It's G's FIRST SINGLE EVER, released BEFORE "Ginuwine... Da Bachelor" in the Swing Mob Days. Of course produced by DeVante (and propably Darryl Pearson too), this song gained some heavy airplay back in the days, but suddenly it was forgotten when "Da Bachelor" came out and smashed the charts.

And for all my sample lovers, here's a little present:

The legandary joint by one of the fathers of funk music, George Clinton, which was also sampled by Dr. Dre for Snoop Dogg's debut single. Peep the baseline at 0:18 and throughout.

Thanks for your attention.

Throwback Sunday #2: Sista - Good Thang (and some bonuses)

I think nobody here needs to be introduced to Sista. But for those who still don't know, it was a heavily Jodeci-influenced R&B group, formed in the late 80's and consisitng of LaShawn Shellman, Chonita Coleman, Radia Scott and of course the ultrafamous leader, Missy Elliott. Timbaland worked with the group plenty of times - first as Missy's friend (in the pre-bassment days, when her group was still called Fayze), and after Sista was signed by DeVante to his label Swing Mob, where Timbaland also found a place for himself.

The group's debut album, featuring production by DeVante Swing, his younger brother Dalvin and of course Timbo was prepared to be released soon after the release of its first hit single "Brand New", but finally got cancelled. HOWEVER, some of the CD's were already finished and somehow managed to hit the stores. Thank God, because today we can enjoy it. :)

The track I'd like to share today is in my personal top ten of Timbaland's greatest productions. It's a slow R&B track with a bit darker vibe then the rest of the album. It also has some cool raps by Missy herself and fantastic harmonies. Take a listen:

Fantastic beat, huh? Well, the credits say that it's produced by DeVante Swing and Timbaland. People were wondering how much of this track was DeVante's work, and how much input had Timabaland in it, since Tim mostly served as a ghost producer for D, sometimes not getting credits for his work. But now it's all clear, thanks to Larry Live! Listen once again to the S.B.I. demo "Fess Up", featuring GY:

Sounds similar? :D It's the same beat! Tim just slowed it down a bit and gave it to Sista! Sooo, what's the conclusion? Is "Good Thang" a Timbaland-produced track with DeVante's drums? No sir.

Listen to Usher's debut single, labeled as a DeVante production (but Timbo still gets credit for ALL instruments):

Those are almost the same drums as in "Good Thang", just played in a diferrent way.
So can we asume "Good Thang" is a song SOLELY produced by Timbo? Tell me your opinion in the comments section! :)

Throwback Sunday #1: Playa - Birthday

Hello everybody. This is the first episode of my weekly throwback series. I was supposed to start this thing two weeks ago, but I had various problems with my Internet connection, so here it is, just a little bit delayed. This song is one of my personal favs, being my absolute number one for many years. It's sensual, well arranged and has that unique feel Timbo gave to many of his tracks in the late 90's. What more can I say, it always gave me chills! Enjoy:

P.S. Also don't forget to wish Thomas Davias a Happy Birthday! :)
